Charity work

Hilton Smythe are proud to support the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity, all of our staff generously donate from their salaries and as a company, we plan to hold various fundraising events throughout the year to help generate much needed revenue for the Charity.
Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity raises funds to ensure continued excellence in treatment, care and research – enhancing the lives of thousands of children each year. They support projects within Royal Manchester Children's Hospital which are designed to help children and their families facing the most difficult circumstances.

Treatment - the charity ensures that the Hospital has the most up-to-date equipment for the diagnosis and treatment of our patients, giving them access to world-class care.

Care - visiting hospital and meeting doctors and nurses can be a daunting experience for a child. They work to create non-clinical spaces within the hospital, such as play areas and chill-out rooms. For families we provide accommodation and communal areas, enabling them to have somewhere that provides a comfortable atmosphere at a very stressful and difficult time.

Research - medical research has played a critical role in developing the standard of healthcare that is so often taken for granted today, from antibiotics to the bionic eye. Their new hospital development means that they have medical treatment and research services on a single site. Their research projects aim to pioneer new ways to prevent, treat and cure complex life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

Royal Manchester Children's Hospital opened in June 2009 and is home to state-of-the-art facilities that have been designed with its young patients very much in mind. Although based in Manchester, the hospital is a region-wide facility and sees over 200,000 patients every year.
The hospital treats children from as far north as Cumbria, down to Stoke and across to North Wales. In addition, the hospital is a national centre of excellence in the following areas:
  • Bone marrow transplantation, for which it is the main centre outside of London
  • Burns treatment - the hospital houses the largest paediatric burns unit in the country
  • Critical care – the hospital's paediatric intensive care unit is the largest in the country, looking after patients ranging from newborn babies to 16-year-olds.
