Description

Hilton Smythe welcomes to the market Mr News.

The business was founded in the 1960’s and the current owners have run it successfully for the last seventeen years and are now reluctantly selling only because of their wish to enjoy a well-earned retirement.

Mr News is a Post Office and Convenience Store selling amongst other things;

Newspapers and magazines
Confectionery
Tobacco products
General groceries
Greeting cards
Stationery
Dairy products i.e. milk and eggs
Crisps and snacks
Household cleaning products
Ice cream
Vaping

Additionally, the business offers other services such as parcel drop off and collection and dry cleaning. The business takes approximately £1,200 per week on Lotto and scratch cards and has a healthy news bill of £1,500 per week with four morning delivery rounds.

Mr News is a lovely little business and really is the heart of the local area with its owners being well liked and respected members of the community. The business has loads of regular customers many of whom are known on a first name basis by the owners and also enjoys passing trade as a result of its main road position.

Scope to improve;

Advertising and marketing campaign
Maximise the use of social media
Extend the opening hours
Apply for alcohol licence, alcohol sales could increase turnover considerably.
Offer a free delivery service for groceries, lots of older residents who struggle with shopping.
Consider selling sandwiches and hot snacks at lunchtimes.

Hilton Smythe highly advise early viewing to avoid disappointment.

Tenure

Leasehold

We are advised that Mr News is being sold as a Leasehold business opportunity. A particular feature of this business is the very attractive council lease, the original ten year lease has approximately three years left to run and the rent is an extremely reasonable £3,000 per annum. We are further advised that the landlord would be happy to negotiate a mutually acceptable lease with a new owner.

There are no business rates currently payable.
